Operation Freedom!

So God hasn't wasted any time in giving me a project and a cause to bring awareness to! This is actually something I have been thinking about and bothered by for years now but never "got around" to doing anything about. Well, now is that time! Here is a quick "article" I posted on a website asking for help in making this "community need or idea" known! Pictures soon to come! Comments welcomed and encouraged! =)

"Operation Freedom is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing awareness to the current neglect and abuse the horses in the city of Norco, Ca. are being victim to. Although a new organization, the team is determined that with; exposure, help and prayer, something can be done. Norco, Ca. is the only city in the United States that legally allows owners to keep their horses in the (inadequately sized) yards of their residential homes. Shocking? We have to ask ourselves why Norco is the only city left that still allows this type of "care" to continue.
Drive through the streets of this quiet Western town and you might feel as if you've stepped back in time, but even back in that day, the horses had space to roam and for the 'Westerners' to care for their horses was more of a way of life. At first glance it may not seem like there's much of an issue, but Operation Freedom challenges you to (literally) take a deeper look and find the story that lies beneath the horse trails and Western themed shops and restaurants. We challenge you to seek out the horses because they're crying for a voice. Together, we can expose the truth and give them a better life than living amongst junk and tiny front yards. Join Operation Freedom and be a part of a true story!

The Beginning of Something Great!

Today is the day I begin one of many journeys, with the hopes of producing something moving, inspiring and perhaps even world changing. All of that from a simple and unknown blog? Yes! Because God has laid a huge calling on my life to document. What may come of this, I have no way of knowing, but it's God's project and I just want to be his vessel.

For the first time in...well...in my entire life, I feel like I know how I can use my God given talents to touch the lives of people worldwide. Just the other day, God had allowed me to finish my work at the office early so that I had time to sit and converse with Him about where my "career life" was headed. Then I clearly hear Him say, "OK, you ready?" Feeling a little hesitant and nervous I replied, "umm...ready for what God?" After making a list of ten career paths I've been interested in over the course of my life, with His help, I crossed options off until three were left staring me in the face just waiting to become one ultimate passion. The list had been narrowed down to: photography, documentary film making and journalism. So, I combined them! It just makes so much since to me now, so I'm going to start working on my documentary photojournalism/film making path. And this simple little blog is my first step.

Now, you may be wondering what was going through my head when I chose to name the blog, "Zerubbabel." This too is God given. After hearing a sermon Pastor Chuck gave at Generate one night, the name was stuck in my head. Unfortunately, I was late to the service and ended up catching the tail end of the story but what I did grasp was Zerubbabel was a leader, a world changer in his day, and not afraid of persecution. I also know that he has a pretty unique and fun name! And while we were reading through Zechariah chapter 4, verse 6 just jumped off the page at me. It reads, "Then he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, 'Not by might, nor by power but by My Spirit, says the LORD of hosts." I heard God telling me, just as He reminded Zerubbabel, this journey He has for me is all Him. And it can't be forced, I can't be hesitant in times of confusion or fearful in a time of persecution. God's will, will be accomplished by His Spirit, at His timing and I have to be willing and ready to say "yes, Lord!" After all, It's not like God needs little ol' me to accomplish such things. But rather that He chooses to use me and knows why He gave me the gifts He did and I'm blessed to be a part of the story He is writing.

I know that God gave me a heart and a passion for people and meeting their needs and the willingness to go to any length or any distance to make sure they had the opportunity to feel true love. I've always said, "Missions is my passion, God and people are my reason" and "One of my goals in life is to add value to the lives of others because I am blessed so that I can bless others." I feel like God is giving me another path within my current love of missions and that may be because lately I've felt stagnant in that area of my life. I haven't been on a trip in a year or more and for someone who would give their life in an instant for that work, it's been hard. But God knows my situation and has His plans and timing, so right now I think He's telling me to take a different approach this time. By seeing a need and recognizing that I have the ability to meet that need and bring awareness to issues and the world's daily crisis', my hope is that I can restore lives and win souls for His kingdom.

So with all of that said (I hope it wasn't too confusing!?), I'll be using this blog to post my projects along with pictures and ways you can get involved and help make a difference! My journey starts here and although I can't see where it's taking me, I am digging deep to face my doubts and fears and grasp God's hand in faith that He will do something great!
